Ruler of Athens, father of Theseus -- Obvious differences, a la Joseph Kennedy / JFK. Pragmatic, believes they should appease the Cretans now-- oppose them later. Likes progress, wants Athens to rule the Mainland -- but doesn't buy into social idealism. Appears only in opening scene with Theseus, arguing about the implications of the Cretan Tax........ and the future.
